We will cover such topics as:
What is the board members fiduciary responsibilities pertaining to the financial records of the church? Who are the voting members of your church? What is the board's responsibility pertaining to taxes and tax records? What is the biblical role of a deacon? What is the role of a deacon in various denominations? How do we go about structuring an effective board? We issue our pastor a 1099 at the end of the year. Is this correct? Our church frequently have fund raisers, are they subject to UBIT? What is an accountable expense plan? What are the financial procedures for a church? What is a W-9 and who receives it? We paid a visiting minister $1,000 for speaking at our church. What are the legal tax requirements that our church is required to follow pertaining to this? We simply listed it as a love gift to him. Was this okay? We only pay our pastor in loving offerings and we do not take taxes out. Is this legal?
